AI Climate Institute Repository
Overview
The AI Climate Institute is a global initiative set to be launched during COP30. It is designed to build technological capacity and foster local value creation in developing countries by equipping individuals and institutions with the skills needed to leverage AI for climate action. Anchored in equity and sustainability, the Institute’s mission is to ensure that AI becomes a tool for empowerment – enabling Global South countries to design, adapt, and implement their own AI-based climate solutions while fostering an enabling environment through innovation policies that support such activities.
The pilot workshop of the AI Climate Institute was held from October 13 to 17, 2025, at the Guamá Science and Technology Park in Belém, Pará, Brazil, as part of the preparatory activities for COP30 (November 10-22, 2025). Spanning five intensive days, the pilot workshop combined lectures, case studies, and facilitated discussions. The curriculum was designed to provide a critical understanding of how AI can be applied ethically, effectively, and in context to mitigate and adapt to the climate crisis.
