Open Position: Project Lead (Multi-stakeholder Matching)
Position Summary
Climate Change AI (CCAI) empowers a global community of innovators, practitioners, and decision-makers to accelerate responsible climate action through the use of AI, by addressing critical gaps in expertise, education, coordination, and research-to-deployment infrastructure. CCAI is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and is run by a small team of staff alongside a dedicated team of 50 volunteers hailing from five continents and bringing significant breadth and depth of expertise on both AI and climate change.
We are seeking a full-time paid Project Lead to spearhead and manage multi-stakeholder matching projects to support the organization’s mission. You will join a dedicated and mission-driven team of experts, and make a substantial contribution to how the organization develops.
You will lead a small full-time paid staff team including a Community Manager and a Full-Stack Software Developer. You will also be working closely with core team volunteers in the CCAI Communications Committee, which oversees CCAI’s website and online community platforms, as well as members of the CCAI Programs Committee, specifically, the sub-team overseeing distributed meetups and community events. The project will also receive guidance and oversight from the CCAI Executive Director.
Applicants to this position should have a proven ability to lead multi-stakeholder projects spanning digital and physical contexts, and ability to co-develop organizational infrastructure and practices to support community-building activities, including project management, partnerships and public relations and impact assessment. Applicants should also be amenable to working in a startup-style environment.
Day-to-day communication with most team members will be virtual, as the CCAI team is distributed worldwide. Start date: As soon as possible (latest start date Early September)
Commitment: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Location: Remote within the United States
Eligibility: The applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Salary: $80K (USD)
Duration: 1-year contract with possibility of renewal

Roles and responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop community building strategies and practices that align with the organization’s mission, values and goals.
- Lead project team and oversee overall project management, including defining objectives, developing plans, mitigating risks, monitoring progress, and coordinating team efforts.
- Establish partnerships with relevant cross-sector stakeholders and community groups.
- Co-develop with the Community Manager to develop comprehensive outreach strategies that align with project goals and target audiences.
- Lead the development of guidelines, training resources and publicity materials for community matching initiatives and physical and digital events.
- Spearhead community outreach to conduct feedback gathering initiatives (e.g., surveys, testimonials and stakeholder consultations) with support from the Community Manager.
- Implement and manage CRM database for community outreach and matching initiatives.
- Analyze and synthesize quantitative and qualitative feedback gathered from surveys, testimonials, and consultations
- Provide regular project status updates, reports, and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Publicly represent the organization in community-related activities.
Qualifications
Required skills:
- Demonstrated experience in successfully managing and delivering community-centric projects, ideally within a nonprofit organization or social impact sector.
- Excellent partnership development and relationship-building capabilities, with a track record of collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders and community groups.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop work plans, lead teams and resources, and track progress against milestones.
- Proficiency in conducting impact assessments, utilizing qualitative and quantitative methods, and translating data into actionable insights.
- Strong problem solving, organizational, and time-management skills, including expertise in coordinating multiple work streams and synthesizing data.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision.
- Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred skills:
- Background or strong interest in climate change and/or machine learning topics.
- Experience building and maintaining databases and working with CRM software.
- Ability to engage in occasional job-related travel (expenses paid).
- Knowledge of languages in addition to English.
Experience and requirements: At least 3-4 years of work experience in related positions.
